BBC
School report 2015 19 – March – 2015
By Rosie and Katie
Here at Glenthorne on
the 19th March, 21 year 8s were honoured with the opportunity to
participate in the BBC School Report 2015.
Off timetable all day,
in groups, we prepared an official news report. It contained interviews, Vox
pops with the Sixth Form, and establishing shots of the school that we filmed
for the report.
We prepared for the
day with two after school sessions in which we learnt techniques on how to
write newspaper articles and secondly how to use a camera and tripod.
Using these newly
established skills on the day, we successfully managed to piece together a
selection of facts, opinions and figures based on the theme of our younger
generation and the general election that is soon approaching.
We had the honour to
gain opinions from sixth formers, head students and Mr Hume with the occasional
aid of some teachers and other sixth formers. We worked speedily with Asim
presenting - and Roanna recording the voice over - to complete our final
report.
The day finished with
two guest speakers reflecting on their experiences of working in the Media.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the day learning
many new skills, including our teamwork and many different media techniques.
